Valentina Gunina and Alexandra Kosteniuk to Play in 2019 Cairns Cup
Women's super tournament starts in Saint Louis.
For the first time, the Saint Louis Chess Club will host the Cairns Cup, an elite level tournament for the top female players from around the world. The super tournament opens on February 5, while the first games are to be played on February 6.
The line-up: Alexandra Kosteniuk, Valentina Gunina (both from Russia), Irina Krush, Anna Zatonskih (both from USA), Nana Dzagnidze, Bela Khotenashvili (both from Georgia), Zhansaya Abdumalik (Kazakhstan), Marie Sebag (France), Dronavalli Harika (India), and Elisabeth Paehtz (Germany).
Prize fund is $150,000. The top three finishers will will receive $40,000, $30,000, and $20,000 respectively. Playing days: February 6-10 and 12-15. In case of a tie, a play-off match will be played on February 16.
