Nikita Vitiugov Wins Chepukaitis Memorial Blitz
Peter Svidler and Konstantin Sakaev shared the second place.
A blitz tournament commemorating Genrikh Chepukaitis, the legendary blitz player from St. Petersburg, took place in Ekaterininsky Public Garden on September 6. 32 players joined the event, including 11 grandmasters and one WGM.
Nikita Vitiugov won with 8.5 points in 11 games, despite losing to Peter Svidler early on. Peter Svidler and Konstantin Sakaev finished on 8 points each, sharing the second place.
Irina Sudakova showed the best score among women, collecting 5 points.
