World Seniors Championship is Nearing End

Russian players are in contention in most groups.

The World Seniors Championship is underway in Italy. 

In the men's 50+ section Predrag Nikolic (Bosia) leads with 7 points. Eduardas Rozentalis (Lithuania), Alexander Ivanov (USA), and Georg Mor (Slovenia) are half a points behind. Evgeny Kalegin (Russia) has 5.5 points. 


In the women's 50+ tournament there are two leaders – Tatiana Bogumil (Russia) and Tsiala Kasoshvili (Georgia). Nino Melashvili (Georgia), Galina Strutinskaya (Russia), Elena Ankudinova (Kazakhstan), and Petra Schultz (Germany) are half a point behind.


In the men's 65+ event Vladimir Okhotnik (France) is in the lead with 7.5 points in 8 games. Anatoly Vaisser (France), Nikolay Pushkov (Russia), and Jan Roose (Belgium) is a full point behind.


In the women's 65+ group Nona Gaprindashvili (Georgia) collected 6 points in 7 games. Valentina Kozlovskaya (Russia) has 5 points.
