Zelenograd Hosted Russian Championships Among Persons With Hearing Disabilities

Mordovian participants of RCF’s project Chess to Boarding Schools played as well.

From September 18 to 27, the Russian Championships among men and women with hearing disabilities were taking place in Zelenograd.  

40 men and 12 women, including former Russian champions among persons with hearing disabilities, participated in the event. For the first time in the championship’s history, pupils of the Saransk boarding school for children with hearing disabilities, which is taking part in the RCF’s charity project Chess to Boarding Schools, were among the players.   

Results:
 
Men:

1 place – Viktor Varezhkin, 9.5 points; 
2 place - Andrey Skorobogatykh, 8 points;
3 place - Linat Shayakhmetov, 8 points. 

Women:

1 place – Olga Lagutina, 10.5 points;
2 place – Yulia Turkeeva, 9.5 points;
3 place - Valeria Panina, 9 points.

Teams:

1 place - Moscow, 21 points;
2 place - Saint Petersburg, 17 points;
3 place - Moscow Oblast, 16.5 points. 
     
Young chess players from Saransk performed quite successfully in such a representative event. Daniil Shigontsev scored 4.5 points out of 11 to be ranked the 36th in the final standings. Alsu Romanova is the 9th with 2.5 points. Children got a huge experience and a wish to improve their chess skills. 

Pupils of the Saransk boarding school for children with hearing disabilities took part in the Russian Championship thanks to the support of the RCF.
