Boris Gelfand Wins Masters Tournament in Netanya
Mikhail Antipov takes the first place in the open event.
The International Chess Festival finished in Netanya on July 2nd. In the final 9th round of the Masters Tournament, Peter Svidler (Russia) defeated Luke McShane (England), Pavel Eljanov (Ukraine) bested Ilia Smirin (Israel), while the games Dominguez (USA) - Gelfand (Israel), Nabaty (Israel) - Dubov (Russia), and Postny - Rodshtein (both from Israel) were drawn.
Final standings:
1-2. Boris Gelfand, Leinier Dominguez - 5.5 out of 9
3-4. Pavel Eljanov, Daniil Dubov - 5
5-7. Maxim Rodshtein, Peter Svidler, Ilia Smirin - 4.5
8-9. Luke McShane, Tamir Nabaty - 4
10. Evgeny Postny - 2.5.
Thanks to the superior tie-breaks, Boris Gelfand and Pavel Eljanov took first and third places respectively.
Mikhail Antipov (Russia) won the Open Tournament having scored 7.6 points out of 9. Alexander Moiseenko (Ukraine, 2nd place) and Tan Baron (Israel, 3rd place) are half a point behind.
